After waking up this morning, we came to two realizations: first, Glacier National Park is now a "backyard park" (in the west, an eight hour drive is pretty much an overnight trip); and second, we both were really anxious to get home. We had a great breakfast looking out the window of the Glacier Park Inn at Summit and Dancing Lady Mountains, then loaded, checked out and got on the road.

Of course, we went to the West Glacier Visitor Center to pick up the obligatory cancelation and experienced several moments of unmitigated panic when we couldn't locate our Park Passport. The active one on this trip is volume two (of five) and contains cancelations dating back to 1997. Needless to say, the prospect of having lost this put us both in a very morose mood as we stamped our West Glacier cancelation in a "standby" volume. While Dart provisioned us with coffee, I decided to look in unusual places (as Sherlock Holmes would say, "once you've eliminated the probable, whatever remains, however unlikely, is the right answer"). Well, somehow the missing volume decided to park itself in a suitcase...with the dirty laundry...

The drive through the remainder of Montana, northern Idaho, and down through Spokane towards the Tri-Cities was pleasant and sunny. We stopped in the town of Sandpoint, Idaho and found some *absolutely fabulous* smoked salmon and jerky. After crossing into Washington, we found a produce stand and acquired some local asparagus and other veggies.

We found the house right where we left it (good thing, huh?) and full of unemptied boxes and unhung pictures.

Home at last indeed...until next time, cheers! (now, where's all that wine?)
