Wow.. time really seems to be flying by quick now & for most the end of the trip is nearing. For those who don't know, I have chosen to extend my trip where I will be meeting up with George from home & we will be living, playing and working in Melbourne for a few months - also hopefully meeting up with recently made travelling friends Cora, Hannah, Ella & Sophia& Alex from home. Exciting times.
To be honest Lima offered us very little( as we were told before we got there, we're not just stupid) it was merely our departure point from one continent to another.. or so we thought.
It appears that none of the flights that we are booked on ever come without a story as with this one the tyres on our plane burst during take-off, leaving us to spend the night in a pretty lush hotel in Bogota, Columbia, paid for by the airline. It was the comfort of this hotel that meant I was about 30mins away from missing my flight to LA. I'll spare you the embarrassing details from the internet but lets just say I owe a lot to my (fast) taxi driving friend , Oscar, who i had met at breakfast.
South america in conclusion: A continent far too big to just travel in the time we had allocated. I think that you could spend double, even triple the amount of time you have there and you still would not be able to do and see everything that you wanted to. Certainly somewhere that i'll be coming back to in the future.
Loved the time that I have spent here, in particular Peru & Bolivia. Expected Argentina to be better than it was, dont know whether it was not spending enough time there , visiting the wrong places or having expectations too high. Either way i'm willing to give it a second chance one day.
Next Stop: Las Vegas.. hmm ..
