After being evicted from Bruce Peninsula NP due to the Canada Day weekend (all sites booked online), we secured a first come, first serve site on Flowerpot Island in the Fathom Five National Marine Park. This island has six campsites with only half being reserveable. We took a tour boat to the island and erected our tent on a luxurious wooden pad in paradise. Squirrels and frogs were abundant for Bogie and I loved the impressive number of Northern Watersnakes. We also saw a Garter Snake to complete the species list for the island (no Massassauga Rattlesnakes - darn).

We walked all the island trails over the next two days. The Flowerpots are impressive when you stand near them. The lighthouse and lightkeepers houses and associated buildings are now a museum since the light was upgraded to an automated beacon and fog horn. Also visited one of the island caves and had a reading day and picnic on the south shore to be in the wind (to keep flies off Bogie),

Left July second - what a great weekend and a neat way to celebrate Canada Day.

Tidbit:
- The Blue Heron Cruise contingent does a fantastic job - they are organized enough to transport 1500 people on, then off, the island between 10:00 and 17:00; relayed people to/from the dock to larger boats using large Zodiacs.
