After submitting taxes, playing some bridge and visiting friends, I headed for Moyra & Dave's for some quiet in my adopted bunkie; also, the hockey nights (not) in Canada were all well played games.

Barrack Obama and numerous states advised Canadians to visit the USA... So last summer I had the trip of a lifetime and headed for Alaska with Cindy & Bogie via the US where the gas was slightly cheaper but still cost over $100 to fill the tank. The trip was awesome as my previous blogs show and well worth every penny I spent.

However, since I had crossed the border so may times (Sarnia, Port Angeles, Skagway, Tok, Chicken, BC then SSM) and had my usual sojourn in Florida over the winter as well, I was turned back at the border (no snickering Amir and Bucky) for overstaying my welcome (I guess they don't like Canadian coloured money). Although I can try again later after showing the Border Guards my financial data, I can never prove that I have a home in Canada so I will likely be bounced forever after being red flagged (with fingerprints and picture to boot; although the FBI already had that information from my previous CSIS secret clearance).

To finish my rant, I now have thrown away non-refundable air-tickets for Shari & Zach's wedding
(US$260 Milwaukie-NYC) and Sue & Aaron's wedding (US$1700 Milwaukie-Korea). I replaced the Korean flight using Air Canada at an additional $2600 by flying from Toronto since I can't touch US airspace. The Border Guards were not sympathetic at all :(((. It is interesting that they think I would sneak into the USA to stay forever and forfeit my “free” healthcare and future Canada Pension (starting April 2013 – and 13 is my lucky number). On top of that, having my Mom, 3 children and 3 siblings (and their families) living in Canada, they seem to think I would throw it all away for the American way of life. I realize they have a job to do BUT they can take anything you tell them and they will always give you a negative side to your information. The two
hours of waiting was not any fun either – the Canadian Border Guard on my return was very sympathetic saying it happens more than you think.

To be continued I hope since I want to attend Shari and Zach's wedding on June 2nd 2012.
