We headed northwest on Alcan Highway early. We had heard the road ahead was going to be rough and wanted to make sure we had plenty of time to make it to the border of the USA before too late. We actually only got 300 miles today, but the road was very rough and slow going - lots of pot holes and extreme dips. Plus it was another cold (& sometimes wet) day.
Soon after getting started we saw a grizzly bear out getting his morning meal! What a sight. We stopped to get his picture - Tom honked his horn (crazy, I know) to get his attention but he was to involved in his breakfast to even notice.
Not much reception around and still isn't. Hoping I can get this entry in before I loose what I have. Going to try to get more pics posted tonight.
Tomorrow we hope to make it to Kenia and Bruce's home. Looking forward to being in one place for awhile.
Brenda, looking forward to meeting Ken and touring the Air Force base while in Achorage. We should be in and around the area until 6/19 so I will be in touch with you later next week.
Best to all. Thanks for following us. Nice to get messages from home!
'til next time - Tom, Sandy, Linda and Randy
