We arrived into Hanoi at 6.30am and headed straight to a hostel. The Hue to Hanoi leg was a sleeper bus so not too bad a nights sleep. After checking into a guest house we headed into the city. Not a great place, loads of smog and pollution. First place we headed was the Laos embassy in the French Quarter to sort out our visas...US$40 each...not impressed! Walking through the city we came across a couple of heavily polluted lakes that people didn't seem to mind sitting around as if they were tropical oasis'. We had lunch in the old quarter and found an agent where we booked a 3 Day, 2 Night Halong Bay tour. After walking across town to pick up our visas we headed back to our guest house and collapsed.
