An early rise but 1hr too early as I forgot to change the time after Malaysia!! Whoops - Toms wasn't very happy. We headed out towards the Mekong Delta and the town My Tho, we traveled along the National Highway bordered by green rice fields. Our trip involved going on several different boats to 4 islands on the Mekong River. We went to a coconut candy mill and sampled some of the finished product and saw how it was made and packed by the local ladies.
After lunch we learnt about bee-keeping in the delta and tried some honey tea. Tom held a huge snake but there wasn't a chance that I was going near it. Finally we had a tropical fruit tasting session with traditional Vietnamese folk music before being rowed back to our big boat. A very fun day trip with beautiful weather, we arrived back in Saigon with a few hours to spare before our bus to Nha Trang so we headed out for dinner. When we got on the bus we had a brilliant shock - a full bed to sleep in! A pretty good 11hr bus trip.
