Up early to catch a boat the short trip across to Gili Meno. We found a hut to stay in and headed straight out to the beach at the northern end of the Island, walking almost its entire length took around 30 minutes! Pretty interesting walk through the middle past small farms and villages. Chilled on the deserted beach and snorkeled all day before walking back to our hut. After a few games of cards we headed out for some food. Meno is a totally different island to Trawangan, loads less people and loads more relaxing.
Up late, after munching banana pancakes which were delivered to our hut, we headed to the west of the Island for another day on the beach and snorkeling. This side used to be a popular tourist spot, until the jetty collapsed and boats were unable to land. There is a posh looking holiday resort with swimming pools that's now like a ghost town
Today went pretty much the same as yesterday...breakfast, beach, snorkeling, lunch,...didn't attempt to fish today, instead we sat in a beach hut and played cards until dinner time. We managed to barter for a cheap fish for dinner which was tasty. Last night on the Gili's, the long trip back to Bali begins in the morning...
Up before 7 to have breakfast and catch our boat to Lombok. While waiting for the bus we chatted to an old local man having a cup of tea. Turns out he was the Chief of the Gili Islands in the 1980's and was around when backpackers first started making the trip. He passed the laws for no motor vehicles and no dogs on the islands! After the trip across Lombok we got on the ferry back to Bali. 4 hours later we got on a bus and headed back to Kuta, finally ariving around 7pm. Checked into a hostel and had a wander.
