As you might have guessed from today's title... it hasn't stopped raining all day! Not only is this making us kind of miserable but it is also stopping us from doing all the things we have got planned for Sydney, like going to Bondi Beach and walking the Harbour Bridge. The really rubbish thing is that it is also cold (I woke up shivering this morning) and Tom and I both thought that by law it always had to be sunny and warm in Oz... someone make it stop raining pleeeaaase! The crappy weather is also affecting our first impressions of Sydney, don't get me wrong we really like it here, but I don't think we are quite as enamoured with it as we thought we would be and that has probably got a lot to do with the weather. So with our options severely limited to ended up spending all day in the Australian Museum learning all about the history of the Aboriginal people and the first European settlers. It was very interesting as neither of us knew anything about Australia's past but also equally sad to learn about the horrendous way in which Aboriginal people have been treated until very recently. Tonight is our last night in our current hostel and as they are fully booked and couldn't extend our stay we had to start looking for another one. It didn't take too long though as we had a shortlist of hostel from before we left the UK and before we knew it we had two nights booked in another hostel across town in a place called Redfern. We had a pretty quiet evening in the hostel; tonight's film was The Never-Ending Story so I was a very happy bunny. Later on we were subjected to the horror of having to watch the new Rocky film, I won't ruin the ending by telling you what happened, surfice to say it had lots of gurning and blood in it and was complete rubbish. As we are checking out of the hostel tomorrow we went and packed our bags again and got ourselves sorted. I get the feeling that the next few months will be a case of constantly packing and unpacking these blood heavy backpacks every other day. Oh well at least we'll have big muscles by the time we get home!
