Today is my baby nephew's birthday: Happy 2nd Birthday Benji! We hope you had a lovely day at Nannie's house.

This morning was the day of the garden party at the botanical gardens and it was much more busy than we had expected. It was lovely to sit in the sunshine amongst the flowers and relax; the flowers smelt incredible and I was stopping every few steps to take all the different yummy smells in. I wish I could have bottled the smell of the flowers and sent it home to my Mum because they smelt like the time we went to the Tatton Park Flower Show together. One of the events on during the day was a treasure hunt through the different gardens with each section having its own entertainer; we got to see a group of really good female barber-shop singers, a saxophonist, a harpist, some African drummers and a group of people performing a Brazilian type of martial arts mixed with dance... it was a great day. After about 2 hours at the gardens a huge black cloud gathered above us and just as we were walking back to the campervan the heavens opened and we got soaked to the skin. With the weather being so rubbish we went to use the internet for a while and I treated myself to a big bar of chocolate to help keep my strength up :) Later that afternoon we left Dunedin and drove to a DoC campsite about 2 hours away. We were quite sad to leave Dunedin as we have actually spent more time here than anywhere else in New Zealand, partly because we are now officially skint and partly because it is so lovely here! Bye bye Dunedin... hopefully we'll come back to see you again some day.
