Today is my Mum and Dad's anniversary (Hayley's parents), so I was looking forward to contacting them all day. Happy Anniversary Mum and Dad!
We woke up quite early and got ready to head into town. We were planning on wandering around town, booking ourselves onto a boat trip for the following day and visiting a nearby island called Russell. Before we left for town we decided that because we liked our campsite so much we would book ourselves in for another night, the views are too good to miss out on! We headed into town and got some info on the different boat trips on offer and after almost no deliberation at all decided to go on one which takes all us around the 144 outlying islands, visits the 'hole in the rock' at Cape Brett and goes looking for dolphins and whales for about 4 hours. The deciding factor in choosing this trip was that if we do find an dolphins we can go and swim with them... we were sold!! Fingers crossed we'll see some, but if we don't we get a refund anyway. We found out that we can get dropped off at Russell after the boat trip and so we decided to spend the rest of the day going for a long (very very long) walk through the forest back to the waterfall near our campsite. After a portion of chips and a chat with a very nice Oz couple (who even offered to put us up at their house near Brisbane when we visit) we headed off to the forest. The walk took us through some real tropical forests and we got to walk past Waitangi where the New Zealand treaty was signed and on boardwalks through the mangrove trees. Tom spent most of the time winding me up saying there were crocodiles in the swamps and I was jumping at every leaf that fell from the trees. It was great but very long and we were knackered by the time we'd finished! What we had planned would be a relaxing day turned out to be exhausting! Unfortunately we didn't get to go kayaking again tonight as it was already getting dark by the time we got back from town, but we had a lovely tea of salad, garlic bread and red wine... yummy!!

Since we got to New Zealand we have really struggled to get internet access and when we do it is either really slow, limited to 15 mins or won't let us download/upload more than 5mb of data, so hardly any photos for the time being we're sorry. We're trying to find some better internet though, so we'll put up lots of photos as soon as we can.
