They have an amazing beach, white sands and 4 miles long. A tad windy but still a great place to be. I even managed to get some exercise in running the 4 miles (my last piece of exercise till now!)
The town itself was full of little boutique shops, swanky little cafe's, restaurants and bars. Some even had photos with people like Bill Clinton and Kiefer Sutherland beside menu's or information! We however saw 0 celebs but still had a nice stay. We were in a hostel called Port O call which fortunately provided courtesey pick up and return to Cairns, saved us a few dollars (you haemorrage money over here - especially after the cheap and cheerful living in Thailand!) We spent the majority of our time sitting on the beach or walking the streets taking in the surrounds apart from the 2nd day in which we decided to do a Croc tour of the local estuary.
It was a nice evening and complimentary snacks and drinks provided. We did only see small crocs, about 6 feet long but we learnt alot about them which was useful when we seen the full grown monster at the zoo outside Noosa!
All in all it was a quiet enough 2 days (the Irish bar shut at 9pm - ive never seen that happen before) and apart from 1 bigger bar/hotel complex the place was a ghost town by 11. I assume it was just as it was off season! Anyway, we headed back to Cairns and onto Mission beach for parachute jumping and White water rafting....sweet!
