Just a quick entry I'm afraid as the clock at the top of our screen is clicking far quicker than the PC is loading!
We arrived safe and well, although tired, feeling a bit grotty and knowing we hadn't cleaned our teeth for over 24 hours in which time all sorts of English, Thai and Indian food had been had.
The taxi ride from the airport to our hotel was an experience in itself - we opted for no air-conditioing in the cab which meant the desk fan on the dashboard wasn't turned on. We then set off through the crowded, noisy and at times plain crazy roads of Mumbai (Dad, you thought the car park at Heathrow was bad - this would've scared the life out of you!). Ox-drawn carts, sleeping dogs, kamikaze cyclists, 4 men on one moto cross bike, locals dodging cars like they were playing on one of those dance mat games, more beeps than Family Fortunes and a cab driver with no idea where he was going... welcome to India Tom & Charlie!
To relax our nerves (and our bowels!) a 'room service' curry was had which was easily the best we'd ever tasted.
Today saw us set out for a wander in Mumbai - no maps and about as much idea where we were going as the taxi driver. Walked for what felt like miles and miles taking in beggars, fighting goats, horse-drawn carriages, very friendly and smiley locals and some tasty street food. We're off soon to find dinner for the night and then plan tomorrow's adventure.
Thank you to everyone who's already messaged us - we feel so loved!!
Take care everyone, and we'll be in touch soon, hopefully with photos.
