HALLOWEEN: (31.10.08)
Right up until
Halloween, I had no idea what I wanted to go as. I had been given suggestions
ranging from Tommy Pickles from The
Rugrats, to a robber, to Wally from Where's
Wally? Nothing seemed to be that easy to do or that interesting.
At about 4pm on Halloween
day, Steve suggested I should go as Tom Cruise from Risky Business - the scene where he slides out in socks, underwear
& a white shirt and sings into a candle stick. I thought "Hey, what the
hell, could be a bit of fun" so I decided to do it. After going to the mall to
purchase a candle stick & white underwear, and borrowing some socks and a
large white shirt, I was in business.
That evening, we all
met in one of the kitchens at Holger to show off our costumes & drink
before going out to the Halloween party at a club called Pink. Some notable
costumes were Katie going as a Victoria Secret angel, Eric going as Hitman,
Melinda going as Pocahontas and Barbara going as a bumblebee. Katie & I
both had a 'de-robing' in which I took my shorts off to complete my costume
& Katie took her jacket off.
We all then headed off
to Pink. Along the way, someone had to stop off to go to the bathroom in a
classy looking bar. It was freezing cold outside and I was wearing very little
to I decided to wait just inside the doorway. The bouncer asked me what I was doing before he was
interrupted by a middle aged Danish man who came up to me, laughed, shook my
hand and gave me a hug. A little freaked out but also happy about the big
reaction my costume was getting, I left the bar and kept heading towards Pink.
When we got there,
there was a massive line, being a little drunk and with lowered inhibitions, we
cut the line from the opposite side and basically walked straight in after
talking to the bouncers for a little while. Some other people had to wait 45
minutes to get in.
Inside the club, we
had a good time, dancing, laughing at other people's costumes and talking to
random people. Overall it was a great night & a fantastic introduction to
Halloween for me. I knew Halloween would be good with a bunch of Americans!
