INTRODUCTION WEEK:

The Introduction week was a week filled with parties, going to nightclubs, more sightseeing tours, and attending information sessions at CBS. A lot of stuff was done, but here are some of the highlights.

On Tuesday, we all went and saw a concert at Christiania. The first act was a regae band named Patchanka. Very good I thought but the venue was so hot that we all left before the second band started. Some of the residents at Holger went to purchase some weed, which is apparently of good quality and quite cheap, but I have decided to not partake.

On Thursday we all went folk dancing, which was a lot of fun. We learnt four dances and I had a very beautiful Dutch dance partner named Anikka who made the experience all the more enjoyable. Their dances seem quite strange at first but when you get into them they are a lot of fun.

On Saturday was the official CBS welcome dinner. Everyone got dressed up - me in my suit that I purchased in Hong Kong - and had a great time. I attempted some salsa dancing and was given some lessons by Nina ( a Dutch girl from Holger) but completely sucked at it. I will have to give it a bit more work before trying it out in public again.

On Sunday Ben, Dave, Mike & I went and joined the gym and then headed off to see the local derby soccer match - Bronby vs Copenhagen FC. It was an absolutely phenomenal experience. We stood in the stand behind the goals with the home-town Bronby fans. I got talking to one fan and he was impressed that I had come to see Bronby as there was one Australian (David Williams) in the team. Bronby won 1-0. The fans that we were standing with went absolutely crazy with excitement and happiness. At the end of the match when victory was secured, the fans all took their right shoe off and started waving it in the air towards the pitch. This seemed a very strange thing to do but it is obviously a regular thing as the Bronby team responded by rushing towards them and doing a team wave/bow thing. Overall, it was an amazing experience and I am so glad that we bought standing room only tickets as it meant that we could be in the thick of the action with the home-town fans.
