Kompong Thom is about halfway between PP and Siem Reap along a glorious new bitumen road - something very special here in Cambodia were the colour of 99% of the roads is dirt.
To my delight, nobody else left the bus here. I quickly found the only guesthouse in town and then ventured to the local market (the only "attraction") where I made a point of eating only things that had never eaten before. Good fun, great dinner!
And of course I arranged a moto driver for $5 to get to the ruins of Sambor Prei Kuk early the next morning. Let's be honest, why else would anybody want to spend a night here??
