Where I stayed
From Hanoi we took the 20hr bus across the border to Laos, and to the city of Vientiane. This journey has been written about alot and has been labelled as hell, terror, and totally dreadful. What a great birthday present that was.
See you there....hopefully
Love Thomas and Hollie x x x
P.s. sorry that there are no pictures of Hanoi, there were a few sights but to be honest compared to other areas in Vietnam it really wasn't worth visiting!!!
We spent a few nights in Hanoi coming back and forth from either Halong Bay and Sapa, and we can conclude that Hanoi is nothing but a noisy, non-tourist friendly mess of a city. Just walking around the corner was such an effort and crossing the road was a nightmare, this is simply because there are more motorbikes than people. The noise echoing around the Old Quarters produced by honking horns, banging metal-workshops and ranting locals is very irratating and after an hour we both had banging headaches. We found the city to be extremely inconvenient, you see a lot of local life but finding somewhere to eat, drink and relax was a nightmare as Hanoi does not cater for tourists. The local people also seemed quite unfriendly compared to Vietnamese people in the south. We felt that the locals of Hanoi wanted tourists for the money but they didn't want tourists in their country.
