What a beautiful city this is. I was lucky enough to come here once before with Emeline in the winter - it feels like a different city again in the summer! We arrived at our accomodation in the early afternoon and were greeted very warmly. We were given a complimentary bottle of wine and had a hydromassage shower in our room (epic!).

We only had 24 hours in the city which wasn't really enough. We would like to come back here at some point in the future both to do some more exploring in the city and to venture out into the wider Tuscan countryside.

The streets were busy and bustling with tourists. One of our favourite spots was the old bridge in the centre of the city. There are little houses and shops crowded along both sides (it must be what the London bridges used to be like) and our room was in tall building overlooking the bridge. We took ourselves on a walking tour again looking at the beautiful Duomo and other architecture around the city. It reminded us a little of Vienna with beautiful buildings and statues around every corner. We had a traditional Tuscan dinner in the evening at a local restaurnat recommended by our hotel which was fantastic. We sat next to a lovely English couple who were planning a trip to New Zealand later in the year. We gave them lots of advice on where to go and how long to spend in each place and also gave them Mum and Dad's email address in case they make it down as far as Dunedin!

We had hoped to visit the Duomo and the Uffizi gallery whilst we were in Florence but extortionate prices and massive queues helped us to decide that exploring the quieter streets would be better this time! Next time we come we will aim to come outside of the main tourist season! Nonetheless we really enjoyed our time seeing this beautiful city even if only for a short period of time!

Lots of Love,

T&E

When I went I fell into the same conundrum - not enough time!!!! It is sooo pretty isn't it? Next time I'm in the area, I plan to be there at least a week:) probably a wise choice just to wander the streets, they're so charismatic in themselves that you probably got a better feel of the city than if you'd been inside particular buildings.
