Our first bus ride on the Oz experience today! We had decided to skip Mission Beach and head straight to Townsville to jump over to Magnetic Island. The bus left at 7am so it was yet another early wake up and then a long trudge into town in the drizzle with all our luggage. I was sitting next to 2 guys who'd been on our trip to Cape Tribulation so chatted to them for a bit. We thought we were going to be on the bus for ages but it actually stopped off along the way for some local entertainment. Our first stop was for breakfast at a croc farm where we also got to watch the crocs being feed to! Some were over 5 metres long. It was really good! The aussies looking after all the crocs were nutters though, I guess you kinda have to be! Jules was even daring enough to hold a baby croc! But not for too long:)

After the croc farm it was back on the road until Tully where we climbed up inside a welly boot 8metres high to signify the most amount of rainfall Tully had ever had in one year. Lunch was salami rolls...again, Jules finds they get boring pretty quick. At 3 we arrived in Townsville just in time for the ferry to Magnetic Island. Checked into our hostel on the island which is right on the beach. Think we're gonna spend most of our time here just relaxing by the pool and kicking back.

That night we meet some local army lads over for the weekend who told us no end of rude and crude jokes:) One of them hadn't stopped drinking since Friday! He was in a bad way. Some of the chaps at our table weren't too interested in us since I wasn't wearing a skirt and Jules had her arm round me. Youngsters nowadays!
