Happy 4th of July!
Today, we stepped foot in the brand new largest building in the world! Words or pictures cannot even describe it but it was a sight to see. It opened a couple of days ago and it not fully operational yet but it was still incredibly impressive. Check out the CNN article
We took the subway there and this is what we saw when we came out of the station!
I don't think I have ever seen so much marble in my life.
The water park, beach, Mediterranean village and hotels were not open yet but what a place this will be! The enormous mall was open for high end shopping. We found the sales office and saw this incredible model of what the finished site will look like.
From there we visited the famous Jin Li Street.
It was a wonderful market atmosphere and we explored the area for a couple of hours....until the monsoon hit! We found refuge in a Starbucks and met a great group of Americans on a return trip with their American-Chinese teenagers. They were impressed with our 'solo' travels and experiences. Getting home was an adventure in itself....a pedicab, the subway and a short walk back to the hotel, all while getting drenched!
We are having hot noodles in the room, relieved to be inside.
