We left Hillsboro, after a wonderful breakfast by Rachel's Aunt Sharon, and drove over to Oregon City to see Eric & Rory Dabney. They are doing great, although their house is a bit stymied at this time. Eric is working in native artwork, ready-made elements combined with clay and traditional elements. I saw some examples and was very impressed. As we visited Rory made a darling baby blanket for Ciela, embroidered with her name and a cute butterfly.
We then drove along the Columbia river. It is a very beautiful drive. We sped into Spokane about 6:30 or so and checked into our VERY sleazy Motel 6 - a lovely hole-in-the-wall with blood spatters on the bed spread and homeless people outside in the parking lot. Oh yay!
Anyway dinner at Zips - they changed their traditional Gut Buster to just the Buster now. Sigh.
Tomorrow we see my childhood home/s. Then on to my Dad's in Sand Point (ish).
