Where I stayed
We've had a lovely first few days here in San Francisco. The weather has been fantastic - clear blue skies and sun - which judging by it's foggy reputation, we've been lucky to have. We've walked across the Golden Gate Bridge, taken cable cars, eaten ice creams at Ghirardelli's, scampi and shrimps at Fisherman's Wharf, listened to some Blues, seen the 'Painted Ladies' (Victorian weatherboard houses painted various pastel colours) on Pacific Heights . We've visited Castro and Ashton Haight (birth place of the Hippy revolution) and admired the 'artisanal' food stores and markets in the Ferry Building. We've even done some hard time in Alcatraz. (We did make some enquiries about availability of cells for three young delinquents while we were there, but they seemed unwilling to take them... Can't think why?!... )
We have been utterly beguiled by this City. It has a lovely atmosphere. People are so friendly and helpful . It is quite compact and easy to get around with an excellent transport system famous for it's vintage trams. James is in heaven!
Today we're heading off down the coast towards Carmel and Monterey. Will update again soon.
Wish you were here!

Wow - looks amazing
Dear Todds
What a great start to your adventures. Photos look amazing and it sounds as if you have not been wasting any time to get into the sight seeing lifestyle. If you have time I can recommend exploring the area on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge as it is really something. Say hello to Clint when you are down in Carmel! All the best Andrew Feary.
Re: Wow - looks amazing
Hello the Fearys! Thanks for your comments - good to know that someone has checked in! Unfortunately we didn't get the chance to explore the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge this time - but as Steve always says, it's good to leave something for the next time you visit. Hope Ellie is settling in to Tormead well. With love, the Todds.
