After breakfast there was the need to do some more laundry and so we had a slow start to the day. Heading back to Maweni Beach once more, I set out to swim to the other side of the bay and back, completing the round journey in about half an hour. The others amused themselves by clambering onto one of the hollowed wooden fishing boats or practicing their elementary swimming technique (Kevin). We had played some cards at the Beach Bar until lunch was served - my fresh battered fish was amazing, though Matt's chicken nuggets (essentially just deep fried chicken, bones and all) left a lot to be desired. After realising my body was quite ginger from the day's sun I walked back to the apartment with Kevin whilst the other two had a crack at the pool table. Returning with iPad, skin cream and water in hand I sat down to read a book, the others making their way back to the lodgings for an arvo nap.
For dinner we returned to Tamu Tamu, Matt ordering the same meal (just different meat) as last time and I mixing it up (to my great disappointment on receiving a tiny snack-sized wrap). I climbed behind the wheel (night driving test) to see if anything was happening in the public beach area; nothing was, so we drove back a bit further up the road and checked out one of the beachside bars. After an expensive and hideously sweet Virgin cocktail (definitely needed a good helping of gin) we took a walk down the beach, stopping for desert at another fancy establishment and indulging in some great ice cream.
We all headed back and the two Aussies crashed on the bed. The Kenyans headed out once more, but their adventures are another story.
