Where I stayed
The day started out great! Woke up at 10am, took a quick shower, and got out just in time for my sister Agnes to arrive. We caught up for a bit and then Chuck and I went out and grabbed a tour bus pass. I have to say that getting the pass that allows you to get on and off in different parts of the city is the way to go! We first got off at the Louvre Museum to see the Mona Lisa as well as the statue of Vino. What I liked about this museum is that they actually let you take pictures, just no flash. Every other place I've been to they don’t let you take pictures at all and I always wondered why. So the French are pretty cool for allowing the tourists to do that. We then got back on the bus and headed toward Notre Dame. Amazing church that I really didn’t know that much about, but the architecture was simply breathtaking! You could see gargoyles and statues of the different saints on the side of the entire building. Chuck and I decided to grab some breakfast. We both had a grilled ham and cheese sandwich and Chuck got a fanta to drink while I asked for a large beer… Umm yeah, it was as big as my head.
After breakfast we got back on the tour bus and took a different route. We got to see more of modern Paris along with the ministry of economics building. Lots of cool squares to see and it was nice to see some regular parts of Paris. We then got back to the normal bus that took us through the square with the pyramid, around the upside down U building, and got to see some great views of the Eiffel Tower. We got our passes to go to the top, it was simply amazing! We got to see the whole of Paris on top of the tower and had some great pictures taken. I have to say though, because I am afraid of heights it was a bit nerve wrecking. We then decided to walk down rather than ride the elevator which took some time and was pretty scary in and of itself! We jumped back on the tour bus and went to the hotel.
At the hotel we met up with Agnes and her friend Meghan (who actually lives in Paris). We got showered and off we went to start the night. Meghan took us to her favorite local restaurant that they serve you steak and fries, then when you’re done they give you another portion. We had three bottles of wine and had a really fun conversation about some guy that Meghan has known for 12 years! After dinner we went to a local bar that Meghan loved and had a few bottles of Moet! So now I can say I had Moet and Wine while sitting outside in Paris! Woohoooo! Agnes was tired because she was awake since 5am in the morning with her flights so she decided to go home. The three of us left went to yet another bar and had some more wine! Lots of fun!!
