Flag of Virgin Islands US  , St. Thomas,
Wednesday, March 24, 2010

Flat Stanley here in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands.

Today I saw a gecko (not Geico!) and lots of iguanas out sunning themselves on rocks near the ship.  The iguanas were all different colors and patterns.  They let people come right up to them and take their pictures too!

I went walking with my friend Trish to the local market and had to be extra careful.  In US Virgin Islands the cars drive on the left side of the road.  This is weird because in the rest of the USA we drive on the right.  Some locals say that they drive on the left there because they are following the direction the horses and mules used to follow around the island.  Couldn't you go in the same direction from the other side of the street though?

We had only a short trip to town today.  Trish has to stay on the ship 1 out of every 3 days, in case of an emergency.

Tomorrow I'll show you my friends that I talked about yesterday.

It's past my bed time, good night!

Mrs. Altmann's Class on

We like to read your blog entries. Iguanas are so cool! Some of our students tell of seeing iguanas in Mexico. Our teacher said that sometimes you see them in the sand but you can also find them in the grass. Did you feel well on the boat? Does it ever get to bouncy?
Safe travels, Flat Stanley!

Flat Stanley,
Did you know that sometimes our teacher types without her glasses! (She calls them "cheaters".) When she does this, she sometimes misses her typing mistakes. She is not a bad teacher, she just can't see very well. Anyway, there is at least one typo on a previously posted comment. See if you can find it!

I saw iguanas on the rocks. I also saw them on the grass. They came out of holes in the ground I think.

It is bouncy today, the crew called it a "rocky sea day". We have been sailing since last Sunday across the Atlantic Ocean and will get to Portugal after 2 more sea days.

I have been feeling a bit sick the last 2 days. I stayed in my room today and did not go out and play on the ship. I hope I feel better soon. Thank you for asking.

I found a typo in the sentence "Does it ever get to(o) bouncy?" Did I get it right?!

I will write more after we get to Europe. I am so glad you like my blogs so far!
