I was scheduled for in port manning today in Katakolon but walked around the deck a few times to see the view from the ship railing. I've heard it said that there isn't much to see in this town. The stores only open when the ships are in and most of the guests use this city as a gateway to Olympia. Many of our guests went on tours to see various ruins and the site of the ancient Olympics and had a great day. I enjoyed seeing the lack of skyscrapers and large numbers of towering apartment buildings, and instead seeing trees and quiet streets. I love the ports we visit but it feels like a breath of fresh air to arrive in quiet ports where I may simply walk neighborhood streets and get exercise and have some peace and quiet before returning to the larger city ports. Greek ports, visited thus far, though simply just don't have that same ambience as Italy and because of that I definitely prefer visiting Greece, even though it is fun to see the historical sites in Italy as well.
