I grabbed some cash today from the crew office and went off the ship for a bit in the port city for Rome - it is again a Sunday in Civitavecchia but I left the ship before 2 pm so places were still open. My roommate and I grabbed some gelato and some pizza (in Italy!!) and then came back to the ship to rest because I've been working long hours the past few days and am exhausted. The temp is about 99 degrees F and about 98% humidity as well so I don't feel guilty for resting on the ship in the A/C. This port town on a Sunday has nothing to offer it is simply a beach and a gateway to Rome anyways so a good port to catch up on email, read, do laundry and sleep to get energized for the days ahead.
