Tuesday we decided to 1st visit Analaughley Cemetery, where the Gallagher family of Drumkeerin, our 2nd Great Uncle Terry Kelly are buried per Brian Gallagher. I thought it would be a good idea to get a picture of Terry's headstone. However, much to our chagrin, we could not find it at all. We found the Gallagher's family plots but no Terry and Teresa Kelly's. Almost sure they should have been there- we searched all of them. They may have sunk under or we did not look in the right space...

Here is the headstone of Brian Gallagher's G-Grandfather, Patrick Gallagher - he was the 1st Schoolmaster of Drumkeeran and made sure his grand-daughters went to college back in the 1920s, a rarity for sure.

We decided to pay a suprise visit to a cousin of ours, Florrie McHugh in Boyle, county roscommon, and also to visit the tombstone firm there to have them fix up Uncle Pat's headstone in Drumkeeran. Her mother was Agnes Kelly, a great-aunt of ours. Florrie, alas, was in Dublin, so we missed her. However, We did get a lunch there that was what we had been trying all over Leitrim to get - Lamb. Check this out.

We decided to take a crack at re-painting Pat Kelly's headstone, not that the cost was prohibitive (it was actually reasonable for the effort and skill required) but just because it would be a fun Guy thing to do. Who'd have thought I'd be restoring a headstone on vacation? I have painted many houses during a summer in college, have done restoration work as well, so how hard could a headstone be? The answer is : hard if you want to do it perfect. If anyone wants to know how to restore a smooth faced granite headstone like below, email me and I have the system down. It should take about 1 hour of shopping, and 2 hours of labor.

And, thank goodness Frank was there to exert his supervisory skills!! ;) (he lost his reading specs so he was the supply guy for the project)

Last night in Carrick on Shannon, I could not rally. I passed out at 8pm. Frank, he rallied and did a tour- nothing was going on. He was back by 9:30pm. The 60 year old rallied over a guy 20 years younger. I am shamed.... ;)
