the last days in chengdu: aimless, lazy, introspective.

after reading The Alchemist, i was able to fine tune into a few omens which were happening to me, as it were they prepared me for the most mind blowing 24hours.

Like i said the last fews days in China were spent meeting random travellers, teachers, dentists, bar owners, oddball ex-pat loafers and fellow seekers. The night before my flight to kathmandu i went to Dave's Oasis with my hotel roomy and we happened to run into a couple of Australian guys on a motorcycle. One was green, only been in china for a few days. the other had been here for 7 years. turns out that the newbie was a long time ex-pat in thailand. he had a bar somewhere with th hilltribesmen near chiangMai. anyhoo, long story short, he is a over-the-hill anarchist, married with daughter to a thai and has some serious experience meditating in caves. I told him about my quest through the Indian Continent and he was beaming. I gave him my email.

Ok so this is how it was. I didnt sleep a wink, fly to Lhasa, Tibet at 730am. Get to Lhasa and my head hurts from the elevation. But wow, like the sights from my window seat were abso-fricken-lutely incredible. the eternal snows, glimmering gold in the sun. jagged precipices cutting the sleepy gauze from my red eyes. the green valleys, meandering primordial rivers. it was a golden moment.
next to kathmandu.
