Friday 13th...
(It lived up to its title)

Went to Paris! Sounds easy enough, right?

Well... I had to get up at 4.30am to walk to victoria station (because the metro doesn´t start till 5.30am) to catch the 5:50am greenline bus 575 to Luton Airport. I was taking a risk buying the ticket on the bus but it turned out fine so that I didnt have to resort to plan two (PLAN #2: Metro, train, shuttle bus). I was so releived to make the bus, I could relax. I woke up when we arrived at Luton airport. I could not believe I was early to check in on my easy jet flight out of the same airport that Carrie and I had missed out plane to Paris those long two months ago. Anyhoo. Food, Reading and check in. I get to the gate 10 minutes before the departure time of the plane and they tell me that the gate is closed, I have missed my flight and I have to go to gate 15 where someone will pick me up. Of course, optimistic me assumed that meant to bring me to the plane because I had missed the shuttle bus. NOPE! A lady escorted me back to check in where all I da to do was "go to the service desk and they will book you on the next available flight, there will be a small charge of 35 pounds" I am sick of people not knowing that the when spending Aussie dollars everything is really expensive!!!!! anyhoo. 3.15pm is the next available. 6 hours in the airport... alone. Not a nice thought. I guess this is the bad part of adventures. One must learn to take the highs and the lows. I still prefer bliss with misery as opposed to complaicent routine.

I went to Costa Coffee chain store and layed on thier nice couches and slept ofr an hour. I stayed put in my reserved seat, 4 hours, reading eating and drinking. Phantom of the Opera, Chocolate muffin and the hugest coffee you have ever seen. (Gross by the way, dont ever drink english coffee).

I was right on time for this flight. Once in Paris, I took the familiar RER B into Paris centre and to my friends house. She wouldnt be there for another hour so I walked 2 minutes down the road to the eiffel tower where I proceeded to take over 70 photos to ammuse myself!

8pm till 10pm, my friend and I watched Meet the Parents and she made me a yummy dinner of sausage and spagetti. Although I couldnt remember the last time I was that tired, we went out dancing! Bruno, Catherines friend, came aswell and we met a german guy. The bar was a great authentic latin club with a mix of great dancing music. Not all techno, unlike Australia.

Saturday 14th...

Got to bed at 3.30am and woke up at 6.30am. Like the zombie I have grown accostamed to being, I made my way through the metro interchanges to the train station. I made sure I was right on time for this one too. I got to use the last day on my eurail pass and just in time too. It was the last day that it was valid! The TGV is the fastest train in the world. I got to Strassbourg in 2 hours where Mel picked me up in the car on the way to Baden Baden.

We walked around the quaint town for a little. Im too tired to care about anythign right now. Then we went to the hot springs and they were just what I needed. They are beautiful and warm, complete with sauna and jets.

All rested after two hours in the water, as soon as I finish this blog, Mel and I are going to a local german resuarant. Then.. Sleep Glorious Sleep!
