Where I stayed
it is 12 noon and i am finally up
i have to try and remember the last two days. alot happened
Carrie and I set out to go to museums cause the weather said it was going to rain as it does, but yet another beautiful day so we thought we should see outside things incase it did rain.
went to palau Guell one of the Gaudi houses and it was closed except for the basement for construction so nothing to see there. then we got my favourite pasta from the markets and i got a bit of all of the flavours so i could try them.
beetroot, eggplant, spinach and a meat one all in cheese sauce. yumm!
trained to vacared metro stop or something to try and find parc guell where gaudi has lotsa mosaics and the gecko thing. we ended up walking for an hour up a huge hill and found it at the bottom of the other side. so we went the long way all while carrie was sick. anyhoo makes a good story. got some nice panorama photos up there aswell i will have to upload them on a non spanish computer later.
then we thought we should head to the sagrada familia didnt pay 9euro to get in. played o the swings in a nearby playground.. way cooler.
then we hit the chocolate museum and the picasso museum. the picasso wasnt as good as i excpected the chocolate was fun though. the tickets were chocolate bars, yeah!
then we were near cuitadella park so we headed that way. sun was setting and no one was there but we found a huge beautiful waterfall so i felt like it made up a bit for the magic fountain not being open.
back home (well hostel) i made boiled vegies of zucchini and broccoli ... so needed. read and slept, new people in our room and we all formed a book club. i went downstairs to make some noodles for a midnight snack and ended up talking till one am then read in the hallway outside our room till 2am and finished girl with the pearl earring.
slept in till 10am then went to the market with new friends and bought vegies and chicken for dinner that night. brought it back to the fridge and rushed to the train station headed for montseratt.
i really didnt know what was even there i was just going along for the ride. AMAZINg mountain with a monestary on top and a gondola thing to the top. but not the very top so we had to keep climbing we walked so much. i saw a car coming up so we hitched a ride with them to the top of the train thing that was broken cause of a landslide. it was so scary no guardrails flying up the steep road on the side of a mountain with 6 people in the car. but makes a good story. then they dropped us at the top and we had to walk down. only took an hour but i stopped at some point where there was an amazing view and got some great panoramic photos up there. i will show you soon. we were so tired when we got back but made dinner. (i felt bad i was so tired i didnt help much and i kindof screwed the rice). read a bit of a borrowed book terry pratcher till i was too tired and we all slept a good 12 hours till 11am. crazy. all i can think is that it must have been a hard mountain climb. we were up there approx 5 hours. i loved it.
unfortunately we slept through church, we were going to try and find one. i miss church. I am still gonna really rest today though. The weekends are prolly going to be very busy. i am planning on just going to the peir with a book and chillazing all day.
we still need to do...
try and maybe pay to go in the sagrada familia, check one last time if the magic fountain is running, go to the sant antoni markets when they are open and look for the weekend markets. i also heard there was a shopping centre off las ramblas. all this isnt too important though and i am just gonna see what happens and enjoy the weather
weather didnt rain but it was the windiest i have ever been in. it was like a hurricane without the storm. we were getting pushed around by the wind just walking along. we checked out the crap beach for a second then left and went inside to starbucks on the harbour with a great view and chilled then got some dinner and back to the hostel. it was 7pm when i checked where the english cinemas were. that happens when you start your day at noon. we finally found them but had to go to a 10om session. nothing i wanted to see so we saw changeling. dont see it if you are a mother. but we did have time for dinner beforehand and splurged on sharing a dish at a restuarant. it was sirian and lebanese. such good hummus and felafel and chicken yum.
read a bit and went to bed at 2am woke up at 10ish. it is noon now and i am feeling guilty about missing all this nice daylight. i want to try the sant antoni markets for the third time see if they are open today. they are more local.
anyoo basically over barcelona. febuary is beginning to look extremely busy so this is the last time we will be able to totally chillax so im jsut planning on soaking up the sun some more and maybe breaking down to pay to go IN the sagrada familia??
miss everyone, but i miss the beach more ;)
