When i named this blog "... Or travelling on the time of crisis" i didnt really believe that the crisis could get so bad. It has been following me around: when I was in new york lehman brothers went bankrupt; in Seattle it was Washington mutual's turn; waiting for a train at LA's union stn i read in the paper that california was the first state to plunge into recession; in Arizona ... it was Iceland. While at the grand canyon Alexander called to say that my bank - Kaupthing - had been nationalized and that Iceland was in desperate need of a loan to save the economy from total collapse. They were also going to introduce a currency board. I already survived one in Bulgaria in 1997 so I am sure I will survive this one as well. I just hope everything will be fine with my savings. At least while I am on the road. Another jagged little pill to swallow after the "adventures" in Trinidad and Tobago;)
Otherwise, the Grand Canyon was great. A little bit chilly at night in the tent but the camping ground was very nice and Karen and Keir's company a lot nicer. We didn't make it to the bottom, or at least to see the river, but maybe next time:)

Well surely you will survive, no doubt about that! What I know about you, my friend, is that you can survive anything because of the wit you carry within and the ability to calculate every single penny, stotinka, or whatever currency you may encounter along your journey (this one and in life). And let's not let my comments sound corny right about now (like a hallmark card application}. I would say that history yet again has proven it's point on repeating itself. A crisis upon us is not always a crisis within if we have the strenght and insight to get through it:)
