"If I'd grown up on a farm and was retarded, Bruges might impress me, but I didn't, so it doesn't." - In Bruges

lol, one of the more awesome quotes from the movie In Bruges. If you like dark comedy, I completely reccomend it.  It's hilarious.  We happened to watch it at our hostel in Bled, Slovenia.  Obviously the character doesn't like Bruges very much, but it's funny all the same.  I liked Bruges. I think I liked Ghent MORE, but I still liked Bruges.  Unfortunately, I was in allergy hell at the time, so I definitely didn't enjoy it as much as I could have.  My allergies got back when we were leaving Ghent, and I just got insanely bad in Bruges for some reason.  Must have a lot of grasses or something.  I was praying, PRAYING, that London would be better.

Our first night we went on a walking tour provided by our hostel, which, by the way, was one of the crappier hostels we've stayed in.  It just wasn't very clean...  the comforters didn't appear washed and the shower was scummy.  There was random crap in the room left behind from previous occupants.  Lame.  The walking tour wasn't that great either- the guy just didn't seem to enthused to be showing us around.  lol, oh well.  We had some fries for dinner and that was that.  Oh, and we bought lots and lots of Belgian chocolate.  It was on par, if not slightly better, than the Swiss chocolate... but costed much much less.  A win in my book.  OH, and I forgot to mention... see, I'm all out of order with events...  for lunch that day we had mussels and fries!  It's a Belgian specialty.  You get a big bucket/pot of steamed mussels (I had mine plain, Chris had his with a red sauce), and a bunch of fries.  Mmmmm.  =)

The second day my allergies were just getting progressively worse.  My nose was constantly running, and I couldn't stop sniffling.  I'm sure I was annoying everyone around me... but what can you do?  I was already taking Allegra and Nasonex, and for all the effect they had, I might as well have been taking nothing.  lol, they were that bad!  So, I bought some other meds on TOP of it.. something similar to Sudafed.  At first it worked well, and then I just became stoned out of my mind.  lol.  But my nose was slightly better!

Anyway, we went to two different museums... the first was the Hospital Museum.  It was pretty cool to wander around and learn about the nuns who ran it.  There was even an old pharmacy!  After that we went to the Chocolate Museum.  Mmm.  Chocolate.  They covered the history of chocolate... all the way back to the Aztecs.  They drank it in a way that doesn't at all resemble how we eat it today.  It was more like a frothy clear hot drink made from the beans...  I don't even think it was sweet, but it was spiced with various things.  Dude, they even had a ginormous chocolate Obama on display in the museum.  lol.  Who needs Maddame Toussads.

After that, I was so miserable I spent the rest of the evening dying in my dorm bed.  I didn't feel like doing anything... I read some. And I was hoping like hell things would be better in London...  it's a big city right?  Not likely to be much grass blowing crap at me there.  =)
