22 July 2004

We woke up and decided to make the best use of our day by going to the Acropolis....when we were fully awake, we realised what a dump the hostel was considering it was 46 Euro a night (plus 2 Euro per person extra for air conditioning!!) God did we miss the luxury of the Palace!!!
We headed for the metro, which is clean and well guarded and a bargain at only 70cents per journey, to find the Acropolis..... we got off at the stop and walked for about 15mins before we saw it...but we couldn't work out where the entrance was...we walked and walked until we had to backtrack and then eventually found it!! Everywhere we went we could see the monuments but we just couldn't see how to get in!
It cost 12 Euro to visit a number of different sites over a 48 hour period. The site is amazing!!! The views over Athens were spectacular...... the monuments were beautiful!! The site is windy and has marble flooring remaining in some areas...both of these don't make a good combination, so wear good shoes! Its well worth both the short climb and a visit!!

We headed back to the hostel, got some pizza for dinner, played cards and went to sleep

Ps is the whole of Greece built on hills????
