We had a great drive on highway 4, which basically cuts through Vancouver Island.  The weather was overcast and cool.  The sky did not look that inviting so driving through the Alberni Valley was probably the best thing we could have done with our time.  We hit the split in the road just before noon and dropped into the visitor center and managed to get a room in Tofino for one night... high season....  Anyway, we had some time to kill before we could get into our room, so went to downtown Tofino and found some lunch at a restaurant called The Schooner, which had a great view of the harbour.  Great seafood chowder, salmon salad and fish cakes.  Happily satisfied, we made our way to the Middle Beach Lodge.  It was like going to a really big cottage.  It was right on the coast with a private beach, big common room with big comfy couches, coffee, hot chocolate and tea available all day.  We had a forest view, but quickly made our way to the beach and enjoyed some salmon dip and crackers as we watched the sun set.  Oh so beautiful. Ian took many shots, but go figure, technical difficulties prevent me from posting any shots. We then headed into town for dinner at Big Jim's Fish Fry.  We had difficulty choosing but in the end decided on the prawns and more seafood chowder... once again happily satisfied.  We have briefly chatted with the young couple beside us and around 11:00 pm, Ian and the couple headed to the beach to star gaze... I decided that the big queen sized bed with a nice duvet was a better option for me.  I just love it when I find playmates for Tinker.  They stayed up to about 3:30am looking at the sky in the cold night, I was nice and toasty warm.   Will add photos when Tinker gets them sorted.

Cheers Steph
