Where I stayed
Arriving in Mancora I went to the Loki hostel which was a bit of a reputation. Theres even a quote from the lonely planet that says ¨loki hostel, if you havent heard of it, you probably shouldnt go there¨. This place was the place you go for a party. It looked really nice though. Almost like a resort. There was a pool, volleyball court and was right off the beach. At nights this hostel was the place to be. No matter what day it was, there was always something going on and during the day most people just spent time around the pool or in bed to recover. There was a special party on the saturday night because it was the hostels 2 year anniversary and the theme was pirate and we had to dress up for the occasion. Unfortunely I had left my pirate costume at home and so did most of the others so everyone had to try dress up using the stuff we had in our backpacks. Luckily all it takes is a bandana around your head and some eye liner to look like a pirate... maybe the occasional AARRGGH!!. Needless to say there some very interesting costumes around that night.
I during the week I went on a tour with Joyce and Laura, two girls I had met, and we left around 8am to go to mudbaths, beaches and see crocodiles. When we got there we saw we were the only ¨gringos¨on the tour. The rest just Peruvian which was unusual. The first stop was the mudbaths which was really fun because you just cover yourself completely in thick mud and then wash it off in warm thermal baths. It was even funnier because the two girls and I were the only ones who actually did it. The rest just looked at us and took our photos.
I was hoping to get some kiteboarding done aswell as there were many places to rent gear but unfortunately the wind wasnt enough all week so I wasnt able to do any.
It was great for a couple of days but after a while I was ready to go back to normal travelling life. so I headed back with Laura and Mike (another dutch guy I met) and took a 20 hour back to Lima. We decided to take the cheapest bus we could find which was probably not the best idea because it wasnt the most comfortable bus ride but it was fine because we travelling as a group. Then 2 days in Lima and then Laura and I were off to Cusco...
Photos coming soon....
