Leaving Myrtle Beach was the first full day of riding in the Southern heat. I packed all my winter gear in an orange bag purchased for this reason, and strapped it to the top of the back box. Next to try out my new silver mesh riding jacket, this was a Christmas gift that came early. The jacket is amazing - once rolling it actual offers a cooling affect (and silver does not attract the heat like black). A huge difference compared to the all black outfit I wore to New Orleans last year.
The weather was great, very little traffic and the roads were in excellent shape
This day of riding was rolling along very nicely as I merged onto the I-95 toward Georgia. Something about the I-95 sounded familiar, but not the warm and fuzzy kind of familiar. I immediately noticed that driver patterns changed, there was a different rhythm on road. I hated to think about it, but somehow I was thinking about the 401. Then I noticed an Ontario license plate. Immediately I thought that this license plate had subconsciously planted the 401 thought in my mind. Then I saw another Ontario license plate, then a third - suddenly I remembered what was bothering me about the I-95. Then it got worse - a license plate from Quebec (no offense). The I-95 is the major route, four lanes of traffic in both directions, used by people flocking to Florida for the winter. After reaching Brunswick, Georgia, and armed with my hotel coupon booklet, I stopped for the night.
