The bus ride from Istanbul to Brasov, Romania, took 21 hours. Six of those hours were just waiting in a bus at Bulgaria Customs. Eventually, the Bulgarian Custom Officials lead the bus to this dark deserted warehouse around midnight. We all got out of the bus, stood in a line, and put our bags in front of our feet. I felt like we were all about to be taken out. The official eventually got to me and aksed me if I was American and if I had personal clothes in my bags. I said yes. He said I was good. God bless America! There seemed to be some issues with all these Romanians purchaseing large amounts of cigarretts and bringing them across the border but I did not do that so I was OK. By the way, the Romainians like to smoke on the bus and listen to loud music. It was annoying.

Brasov is cool. Local food is really good and I saw this Black Church today. They call it Black Church because it was attacked and burned to the ground except for the parts that were stone. The white stone was turned black and they kept it that way as a reminder to stay villligent. The church had one of the largest organs in Europe and the street just outside is the smallest street in Europe (only one person can fit at a time). Tourist cities love to be the biggest or smallest or first and best in some way.

Tomorrow I go on a guided tour of Draculas castel and some other cool, ornate palace. I can't wait. I hope to go up the side of the mountian the day after next and also climb the white and black towers. I think I will climb the white one first.
