In Sambia I booked a day-trip to Chobe National Park in Botswana, close to Kasane. The whole trip was 150 $ but I even would have paid 500 $ for it. For sure not the last time I went to Botswana.
At 7 am a taxi brought me approx 70 km to the ferry (thatīs the place where 4 countries meet, Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Sambia). It is like a bus-station with many many people; I was very happy that my taxi-driver went with me to get my visa, otherwise Iīd have felt very uncomfortable and unsafe
I was impressed by the nature and by the knowledge of our guide, he was great and knew everything. We saw many many hippos, some big monitor lizzards, mongoose, amazing birds (for example fish eagle, bee eater, korey bustards, different types of kingfisher and so on), some crocodiles and even a big group of elefants drinking and playing in the water. For lunch you go back to that lodge, after lunch your bus-safari (an open mini-bus) starts....and there is so much to see. Within these 2 hours we saw at least 200 elefants, male, female, babies, we saw them eating, drinking, playing and so on, sometimes just 3 m away. Eye in eye with an elefant, We also saw two lions, many Impala, some Kudu, some baboons, some mongoose, some marabu (the ugliest animal of the world?), giant monitor lizards, many birds, buffaloes and so on (3 of the 5 big five).
Unfortunately I did not see a cheetah, a leopard, a giraffe, a rhino, a tortoise and a chameleon, so I have a good reason to come back
On my way back to Sambia (after paying another 50 $ for the visa) by taxi I saw 2 zebras, in Chobe I did not see any.
If you are interested in animals or fotografy, Chobe-NP is a MUST SEE! I took more than 320 pics in one day!
