Ica isn't so great but if you take a 5 minute cab ride to Huacachina, it's fantastic!! It took us a little while to figure this out and we knew that the prices everyone was offering weren't great, so we finally decided just to go straight to Huacachina by cab and figure it out there. It was really great that we did too! It was cheaper, we got our own private ride instead of sitting in a huge wagon with a bunch of other people, and we got to use the facilities of a hostel afterwards! Including swimming pool! We had already decided that we would catch a bus to Ica early in the morning and then catch a bus out later that evening, so the tickets were already bought, but I think me, Emma, and Rich would have stayed at least another night in the small oasis of Huacachina. The people were incredibly nice, sand boarding was incredibly amazing, and it just has good atmosphere!!

So when we got everything set up, we hopped in a dune buggy (which was a push start, haha!) and zoomed through mountains of sand. We didn't just speed a little... we were whipping around corners and bouncing over ridges, and all of us were screaming “WooHoo” out of the sheer adrenaline rush! It was sooo much fun! And that was only the ride!!

The first stop we made was a small hill. We practiced a few times since it was easy to walk back up this small hill- first we stood, then we sat down on the board, and once more we stood up. Then our driver took us to medium sized hill and we went down in standing position. Then we went to a steep hill and tried laying down face first- soooo much fun!!! I would have been screaming more “WooHoo's” but sand would have gotten in my mouth! Then we went even steeper and tried standing position. I let both Emma and Rich go first, they both got small scrapes from some tumbling falls, so I went reallllly slowly all the way down and didn't get scraped at all. Lots of sit down falls, but I didn't get hurt:)

And when we were going back we saw a fox which is supposed to be good luck, because when do you see a fox in the desert!

And there's one other thing that sticks out in my mind about this adventure- at one point the driver said “I love my job!” I think that's the first time anyone has said that and I actually believe them!
