Where I stayed
When we got to town, we dedided to stay at a hostel that a guy at the bus stop tried to sell us. It was probably the smallest dingiest hostel we've stayed at yet, but it was about 2 USD so we agreed. We both woke up in the night not being able to breath because the room was so small and there was no windows but we made due.
The guy, however, helped us out and told us that we didn't need to stay in town more than a day, so we booked our ticket out for the next morning and decided to do the tour of the Floating Islands that night. It's a good thing because I was not very impressed with the Floating Islands. It was very touristy and as soon as you get to the island, they try to sell you a million different things- pillow covers, sculptures, necklaces, a boat ride, the clothes off there backs... it was interesting, but not something I need to do again! During the tour, it's mentioned that they get money and supplies from the government because they bring in tourists and they also have a good trade business in fishing, so I wonder why they are so eager to sell all of their handmade trinkets...
The next day we would catch a tourist bus to Cusco!
