What a mad rush! We barely succeeded in sneaking our backpacks on as cabin bags for the Brisbane to Sydney sector. A few kgs over the weight but it was all for a good cause. Air Tahiti Nui is a delight to fly with, great service, nice planes, private tv screens and everyone is in a good mood. But who would not be when you are goinf to Tahiti! We arrived half an hour early, and with only carry ons, we were off the plane, though formalities and standing on the road waiting for Le Truck within 15 minutes. We went direct to the Heiva festival. Unfortunately, we missed the first dance group, but we saw two singing groups and the last dance group called Heikura Nui. They were amazing, great music, great dancing!
After the show, we trudged through the streets looking for the guest house-Pension Ahitea. It was dark and we got lost, Tahitians are not real big on street signs. Finally a kind local dropped us off there and we woke the sleeping caretaker to let us in and passed out.
