A late start and the 3 of us drove up towards Gainsville and Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing.
Wow so so many cars, memorabilia, pictures, information etc. we picked up a few leaflets and whilst doing so thought we'd ask if the man himself was on site to be told he wasn't- Amanda commented that's a shame as we came all the way from the Uk, next thing we know we're being asked to follow this women to his private workshop... And there he is working on a ford block...! WOW!

A little chat ensued followed by discussions about what cars we run in the Uk so out came the phones and pictures! He said I should race against his Charger (if only! It's running 9's) a quick selection of photos and thank toys for allowing us to meet him and his parting words- race those rentals good!

Orlando Speed World was the plan for the evening on arrival it was obvious it was going to be good, the amount and quality of cars was amazing!! Over to Tech to sign up, much to the amusement of the marshals when they discovered we were racing rentals and without the husbands!
Had to borrow a helmet as I was racing a soft top.

4 runs later we had a fab night! Racing finished at 11.30 PM raced a variety of fast cars my favour and my claim to fame? I raced a 6 second car!!! Beat him on the lights so I could hold my head high- even he was impressed.

Played with the sport manual setting and by run 4 I was getting into the swing of it shame it all had to end :(

Met some lovely people friendly knowledgable and passionate not to mention the southern homies in lanes 1 and 2 talking crap and being cagey about there 7 second cars just how you'd imagine the racing! They were racing for serious amounts of money! But again they were real friendly. A long late drive home with a stop off at mc Donald's and bed!
