We left Savannah today on our way to St. Augustine. We highly recommend The Marshall House in downtown Savannah. It's definitely a first class hotel. The room was gorgeous and the service was impeccable. The hotel is over 100 years old and supposedly haunted, but no ghost chose to visit us during our stay. Danny is especially mad because the ghost is a women who likes to slip in to bed with the male guests.

As we drove south to Florida we took a side trip to Jekyll Island, Georgia. There is a small historic village and plenty of beautiful beach. We drove through the state park on the island to check out the campground. It was very nice but not right on the beach. We preferred Hunting Island.

We arrived at our house in St. Augustine about 2:00. I found this house somewhat by mistake on VRBO. I inquired about a small guest quarters on the property of a bigger house. The owner told me that the guest house had already been rented, but we could rent the main house since he would not there when we needed it. I was skeptical because the price he quoted me was so low, but we booked it anyway.

When we arrived today, there was supposed to be a lockbox on the front door with a key. No lock box. This house is large and directly on the beach and worth way more than the amount we paid. And its for sale! I was sure we got duped! I called the owner, the housekeeper, even the real estate agent who has the listing. No one answered.

After an hour of waiting for a return call, the owner finally got back to me. Since he doesn't normally rent the house he had forgotten about us. Thankfully, we were able to get in and the house is ours until next Wednesday.

After shopping and fixing dinner we took a walk about a mile up the beach and back. The beach is wide and there were not many people. We are really looking forward to reading and sitting on the beach for the next several days. It's nice to slow down a bit after the last 12 days, 3,000 miles, and five cities.
