Land Between the Lakes National Recreational Area

We travelled the Kentucky Bluegrass Parkway and I drove the camper for the first time. The only way I could have done that was because it was a nice divided highway with little or no cars on it. We saw lots of fallow fields planted with yellow flowers. I will have to find out what they are. Miles and miles of flowers.
The first day we set up camp...a lovely well thought out /designed place. We then took off for a bite to eat and had a great meal at Miss Scarlett's. Bison burger for John and the meat loaf special for me. Dessert is included. After that we drove south through the park to see The Homeplace - an 1880's working farm. We saw some old style cows, sheep, chickens, ducks, pigs and horses Spoke with a guy who lives that lifestyle and took lots of pics and video.
The Elk and Bison Prairie was closed but we were able to see some bison on the way home at the south bison range and trail. After that we headed out on some dirt roads to visit some cemeteries. They have lots of them here, small family type plots. Towards evening we watched First Wives Club (thank you Suzy) and went to sleep.
Second day started out with a walk and picture session in the campground. So many really nice sites. We then went to see Patti's 1850's Settlement. It was nice and picturesque but contrived. Didn't like the fake feeling. But great food at the Iron Kettle Restaurant. We stopped in a real estate place and John got info on some properties. We located two of them. Seems like you can get lots for the $ here. The secretary gave me a magazine called "the Promise" It was about the promises broken by the Gov't to the families displaced when this area became LBL National Rereational Area. It reminded me of what they did to the American Indians. Interesting to note the difference in my feeling for the place after reading this. Still the same lovely place but....
All in all we enjoyed our stay here. We saw an owl, coyote, and lots of deer the first day when trying to locate the cemeteries.
