Natural Bridges National Monument
9/29 Thursday We drove only about 50 miles and stayed 1 night in Monticello so we could drive over to see Natural Bridges Nat'l Monument and Edge of Cedars State Park before leaving the most wonderful state of Utah. We went to see the bridges first and ran out of time - Cedars was closed when we got there. No problem, it's another Anasazi Museum with a dig out back and we are heading to Mesa Verde to see the Grandaddy of Ancient Pueblo culture.
The 3 bridges were worth the drive. They were beautiful and I learned the difference between a bridge and an arch. They look the same to me but bridges were started by running water, a river, and enlarged by wind erosion which is the only force creating arches.
Sipapu - we went to the overlook and took pics.
Kachina - we went to the overlook and took pics.
Owachomo - took the trail to the underside and took pics.
