Next on Papou's agenda was Epidaurus. The first time I came here, I didn't have the lung power to sing Amazing Grace with the students on stage or climb to the top of the marble theatre to hear the astounding natural acoustics. This time, I did both. And again, thanks to the lateness of the month and the sopping wetness of the day, we had the entire ruin nearly to ourselves.

I went all the way to the top to listen to Godiva reciting Genesis 1:1. Her words, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth..." were fitting as I looked over the mountains and clouds beyond the site.

Then I took the stage and performed Juliet's monologue from Romeo and Juliet. "Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo. Deny thy father and refuse thy name. And if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, and I shall no longer be a Capulet."
