Sooner or later, you run out of words to express the astonishing beauty of Greece. I finally ran out today at Sounion. Our charter bus climbed and climbed to a high bluff on the southernmost tip of the Attic peninsula overlooking the sea. At the top was the Temple of Poseidon, a guard post for the Athenians built during the time of Pericles. I cannot articulate how beautiful the marble temple and the endlessly blue sea were on this crisp afternoon. All I can do is show you pictures that barely approximate the awe of the experience.
