We had so much fun at this evening's dinner party that neighbors in two different apartments across the street stepped out on their balconies to stare at our merriment. Traveling Pants, Papia, and Scout volunteered to come over and cook a multi-course meal for the Bibfem Four and me. And no laundry! They were just doing it for fun and to perfect some new Greek recipes.

While Dutch, Nurse Cubby, Gramma, Chaplain, and I sipped honeydew juice and snacked on a turopita appetizer, the students labored in the kitchen to create cabbage rolls and homemade moussaka.

If there were anything better than the food, it was the dinner conversation. Scout suggested a game where we chose one person, and we went around the table guessing something about that person. Questions started out like "Did you play Cowboys and Indians in your childhood," but as the evening went on, they got deeper like "What has made you most happy in the past five years?" I cannot attempt to capture the hours of amazing conversation these questions spurred. I can only say that by the end of the evening, women in their twenties had come together with women in their fifties and sixties to laugh at stare-drawing volumes, shed a few tears, enjoy the baklava, and learn a great deal about each other. It was a powerful night.
