Every year on the 12th of October the Aragonese capital of Zaragoza becomes a place of celebration and tribute to the Virgin of Pilar. Today all of Espaņa participates in celebrations to honor Pilar, it is a national holiday and so since everyone is enjoying the vacation day it was the perfect time for a day trip to Zaragoza. Tons of people visit Zaragoza to partake in the music, dances, theater, parades, and flowers--it is one of the most recognized celebrations in Espaņa and is known throughout the world. The cultural events last throughout the week and each day there are different activities to enjoy; the people from Zaragoza wear traditional clothing during the celebrations so you can certainly tell who is from the city and who are the foreigners!

I arrived at noon on Wednesday and didnīt leave until 7 am on Thursday, it was a day without sleep but it didnīt bother me because I had lots of time to explore the city and enjoy the day without feeling rushed. I ended up going to a corrida de toros (a bullfight), I wanted to go even though I donīt really like the idea of killing bulls for sport. Since it is a cultural tradition here, I think itīs important that I experience it at least once.
